Dammit, I'm about halfway behind on my word count goal for the first month.

Shit.

I Drink Blood is an in-character blog written by a vampire. I'm having fun with it.

Right at 6800 words for the year, but I think I missed out counting a good 500... ah well. So I'm still 3 days behind.

I'm about 2000 words behind for the year. 4830 right now. I've started a new story blog, over at Wordpress. I've been working on Poo Bah. A couple other little writing bits here and there, too.

I'm confident that I'll catch up.

Well, 2008 is coming to a close and (as usual), I've done a lacklustre job at writing.

So, this coming year, 2009, I'm making a goal, the same goal I set last year and didn't even come close to acheiving.

250,000 words. A quarter of a million words.

(That breaks down to approximately 685 words a day. That's nothing.)

So, 2008 is out, another year wasted for the most part. 2009 is coming in and it's time to get serious about writing. POO BAH is still the priority.

50,884 words. The book is not complete, but I am done for now.

This year's NaNoWriMo project is actually the 2nd book in the series, the first of the "Displaced" saga.

If you're reading this, chances are you got here from one of the social networking sites I use... and you've already likely be informed where I am on the NaNo project this year.

Just in case, though...

I'm at: 16881 / 50000 words. 34% done!

That's only four actual writing days this month so far! Averaging approximately 4200 words a writing day, 927 words an hour.

That 250K word count goal is not gonna happen, duh.

Gotta write something for my nephew's birthday next month.

Also, next month is NaNoWriMo!

On the silly side: Poo Bah For President!

Chances are I'm not going to be doing that story with Jack Johnson and the hurricane. I need to do some research, and I haven't even received the one book someone bought for me (a bio of Johnson) yet.

Got a bunch of other ideas - ideas ain't my problem, folks.

Well, that time of year is getting closer... this will be my fourth NaNoWriMo. So far I'm 3 for 4 (crapped out in 2006, due to shitty relationship issues.)

Anyhow, this year I've got a story growing in my head; it's going to involve Jack Johnson (the boxer, not the horrible singer), a hurricane and I'm not sure what else just yet, but it's going to be funktastic.

Just so you know, we're up to installment #5, and I'm hoping to get #6 up tomorrow (Sunday, 8.31).

My goal is to post an installment about every week or so. This will only be the first half of the entire book, the section unofficially titled "Poo Bah and the Wolves".

So, yeah... year's over halfway over and... my goal of 250K words? That's laughable.

I really have to find a way to make more writing time. It's that simple.

I have great ideas... came up with one for a story told via social networking like blogs, Livejournal, Twitter and the like. Think it would be a lot of fun and a good exercise on being productive.

Y'know, I could sit here and talk about how I have had a lot on my plate - working too hard for too little money, a girlfriend who's been sick for months, just had a major dental procedure done... but quite honestly, those are all excuses.

I can make time to write. I just have to. I waste too much time sitting online and not doing much.

THE LIST:

1) Poo Bah. Still the #1 priority. A few months ago, I read through it all and actually did a thousand or so new words, just need to get back in that groove.
2) YLAM. I'm over 1/2way done with the story, I should finish it.
3) My online/social networking-told story. Kinda a fantasy type thing, modern day of course. Still percolating on the story. I'd like this to be a way to generate some cash, too. Maybe through advertising on blogs or something? I don't know how to make $$$ that way, should look into it.

Yep, almost three months gone by and I've not done anything with this site. Not done much writing, to be honest. I'm good at that.

(Truth be told, I have done a little more Poo Bah stuff in the past few weeks, so that's good. Just have to keep at it.)

Whenever I get off my ass and get to it, you'll see the actual story installments disappear from this front page. This blog is really going to be more of a launching point/directory for changes to the site (and subsites) and so forth.

Anyhow, that's it for now. I'm off to go do some more non-creative stuff (hey, it's housework, that's actually a good excuse not to be writing as opposed to the usual procrastination tactics I employ.)

So, banged out 997 words for a background 'story' for an online RPG.

Decided that, starting no later than 3.01.2008, I'm going to write 800 words a day. That'll get me back on track for my 250K word count goal by the end of the year.

May or may not bother with NaNoWriMo this year.

So, wrote a good 1000+ words today for a wiki-entry or something for a friend's online RPG...

And then turned around and deleted it, because it was shit. And it was... well, no, it wasn't shit, but it wasn't good for the setting, it wasn't remotely what it needed to be.

So, how the fuck'm I gonna make my 250K word count goal this year if I don't even keep track of what I'm writing?

In other news, came up with yet another concept... well, took a character that was going to be a supporting character in my Messiah comic book and am thinking of retooling her for... either her own comic limited series, or maybe a short series of novels.

And by retooling, I mean completely remaking. Turning her from a mostly ambivalent background character into a protag. And instead of an older club owner, a younger woman, who also happens to fight demons and such.

Yeah, like I said, completely remaking. It's still percolating in my head, though.

I could list the reasons, but it's all excuses anyhow. I need to just sit down and make time to write and do it and that's that.

Saturday, I'm off of work, and Deb's working, so maybe that would be a good time to do some writing.

I need to get cracking on re-reading and writing more for Poo Bah. That's supposedly my big priority this year and I've been slacktastic.

I need to revise a bit on Poo Bah and the Lost Girl and get it ready for printing and find a place to print it for as inexpensively as possible and still do a good job with it. I have until the latter part of March, but still... that's only just over a month away.

Anyhow, I just wanted to post to here since it'd been a while. I really need to think of a good serial-posting story I can do to keep people coming back here for some reason.
