Tales of the Undead Soldier
PAGE ONE
Panel one – upper left hand corner of page, small box with head shot of our hero, the Undead Soldier – zombie wearing army uniform and helmet, skin obviously not living, but not quite decomposing, either. Electronics array in side of neck, transistors and such.
Title across top of page, next to panel “Tales of the Undead Soldier: Into Hell”
Panel two – 1/3rd of page, center spread. Inside of B-52 bomber, we see our hero sitting in seat, strapped in. He’s fitted with parachute, wearing all black clothing, for night drop.
Caption: June 16, 1944. Flying over enemy territory, on a top-secret mission. One that could very well change the face of the war.
Caption 2: Our hero, Thomas Longino, aka the Undead Soldier, sits and waits. He doesn’t feel fear, not like you or I would, because he’s not quite alive. He’s Undead.
Panel three – same scene as above, closer view of Longino
Caption: It’s argued that he doesn’t even feel at all, but that’s not true. He thinks, he feels, to some extent.
Caption 2: And right now, he’s remembering.
PAGE TWO
Panel one – [flashback] Close up on Longino’s face, still alive. He’s being held underwater, two big hands wrapped around his neck, holding him down in a body of water.
Caption: He remembers how he died. Murdered by a jealous husband.
Panel two – [flashback] Longino’s body naked (but covered by a sheet from waist down) on a medical table. He’s hooked up to instruments, and some wires are connected to the electronics in his neck
Caption: He remembers waking up in the laboratory of Doctor Weisenthal, that crazy scientist with a dream and a hatred for the Nazis.
Panel three – [flashback] Close up on woman’s face, dark hair, pale skin, dark eyes. Beautiful, with a sad smile.
Caption: He remembers Judith, Weisenthal’s daughter. And he feels for her. He loves her, but can never have her, for he’s dead, after all.
Panel four – Interior of B-52, he’s now standing at jump door, ready to leap.
Caption (Longino): Judith.
Panel five – Longino is in the air, arms and legs spread, chute not yet pulled. The plane is far above him, and there’s a cresent moon in the sky.
Caption: His mission – parachute into enemy territory. Rescue Judith Weisenthal from her captors, before Doctor Weisenthal meets their demands. Before he turns over the secrets to the Undead Soldier project.
PAGE THREE
Panel one – Longino is on the ground, and he’s dragging his parachute to a nearby copse of trees. In the distance, a castle can be seen.
Caption: His destination: Kastell Dschehenna. Where, undoubtedly, Nazi soldiers and scientists await Doctor Weisenthal’s arrival. Where Judith is being held.
Panel two – Pistol in hand, Longino approaches the castle. Floodlights brighten the front approach, and armed guards stand outside the front entrance to the castle. A moat surrounds the old building.
Caption (Longino): Judith.
Panel three – [underwater] Longino walks across bottom of moat, pistol in hand. No air bubbles are visible. Fish swim by.
Caption (Longino): Judith.
Panel four – A nazi guard is up close, smoking a cigarette. Over his shoulder, we see Longino emerging from the moat, soaking wet, pistol in hand.
Caption: The guards are prepared for almost anything. Almost.
Caption (Longino): Judith.
Panel five – Longino now wears the nazi’s uniform, carries his sub-machine gun. He even is smoking his cigarette. Over Longino’s shoulder, we see a naked body floating, face down in the moat.
Caption (Longino): Judith.
Panel six – Longino enters the castle through a side door, unchallenged by the guards on the rooftop watching.
Caption: Entry is quickly, easily obtained. The sentries have their guard down. They are far too arrogant.
PAGE FOUR
Panel one – Longino moves through the castle, which is fairly empty. It’s a large, ostentatious building with tapestries with the Nazi swastika on the walls, sconces with torches burning set between the tapestries. The ceilings are high, and the walls and floor seem to be made of marble.
Caption: Through an almost preternatural sense, he is able to sense where Judith is, and makes a beeline for her.
Panel two – Judith is sitting at a table with several Nazi soldiers and scientists. Everyone but her is eating a sumptuous feast. Beyond the table, we see Longino in the entrance to the dining room.
Nazi #1: Come, jewess, eat your dinner. You’ll need your strength for the night’s festivities.
Judith: My father will never meet your demands.
Nazi #2: Then we shall have great fun with your company!
Panel three – Longino enters room, Nazis turn at his arrival, pulling their guns out. He has his submachine gun leveled towards them.
Judith: Thomas!
Longino: Judith.
Nazi #1: (yelling) Now!
Panel four – A dozen armed Nazis spring from behind curtains, out of doors, into the large dining hall, their weapons pointed at Longino. Nazi #1 has his pistol pointed at Judith.
Judith: No!
Nazi #1: You walked right into our trap, zombie! Now, we won’t need Doctor Weisenthal’s notes, we have his results!
Panel five – (spread across bottom 1/3rd of page) Guards have Longino’s arms pinned, Nazi #1 is holding Judith by the wrist, as she struggles. Her eyes are on him, his are upon hers. In bottom right corner, the words, “What will happen next?” are splashed.
Nazi #1: Soon we will have our own army of zombies, and the third reich will live forever!
Longino: Judith.
